據世界日報報道，2010年7月開始實施的統壹銷售稅（HST）將於明年9月進行存廢公投。卑省首席選務官詹姆士（Craig James）10日下午公布問卷草擬內容，並送呈卑省律政廳長，省議會將於明年春季議期中決定問卷最後版本。

由詹姆士草擬的問卷題目為：“你是否贊同廢止統壹銷售稅（HST）並回復省銷售稅（PST）與貨品服務稅（GST）並行的稅制？”（Are you in favour of extinguishing the HST and reinstating the PST in conjunction with the GST?）。

卑省議會將於明年春季議期中討論並修正問卷內容，屆時將由詹姆士公布最後版本。

初版HST公投問卷公布後，反HST陣營要角德蘭尼（Chris Delaney）與省新民主黨黨魁詹嘉路都對題目內容沒有表示反對意見。

卑省省長金寶爾曾表示，只要過半選民（50%加壹人）在公投中投票主張廢除HST，也就是對上述問題回答“是”，省府就會把這項新稅撤銷。

盡管HST招致民怨不斷，但也有礦業代表持正面看法。卑省礦業代表與喬治王子市小型商業代表於10日壹記者會中表示，在PST稅制下有許多成本無法扣抵，但HST實施後為礦業節省約2200萬成本，這不但有助於創造礦業工作機會，並可為本地社區吸引更多外來投資。

Only about 20% of products and services are affected by HST and the effect was reflected in the consumer price index of July this year by a one time increase of about 1.2% as some tax experts calculated. If we change back to the old PST/GST system $1.6 billions will come out of our province and each year $30 million extra cost of adminstration. 贊踩回復 0

when hst applied, many products and service prices became higher when the tax became effective. Even hst canceled, the prices never went down back. so i really do not like the tax policy. when the gov want to support business, they transfer the tax burden from corps to residents. this is unfair. 贊踩回復 0

what if HST is cancelled, other taxes come out? Bottom line, the government needs money to eliminate its deficts. Eventually, there will be a big waster of tax payers' money doing nothing than administrative work. 贊踩回復 0
